Another one from my walk on the beach in Burghead, with the evening sun lighting up the dunes.

Evening Walk   3 comments

There is nothing like a walk in the evening to revive your spirits. This is from yesterday, on the beach in Burghead, looking over the Moray Firth.

Storm Gertrude   Leave a comment

I was going to publish a drawing commission over on today, one that I completed just recently, but I changed my mind when the morning twilight and the dark skies of storm Gertrude presented us with a special treat. They were seen at numerous locations in the north of Scotland today and I later found out that this is a nacreous, or mother-of-pearl cloud, formed high up in the stratosphere which normally has no clouds because it is too cold.

Waking Up To Primary Colours   Leave a comment

It has been a while, life sometimes takes over. But…it’s that time of year where I wake up to this sort of thing and I can’t resist. This was taken a month ago today. Like I said, life gets in the way at times, so I haven’t been able to post it sooner. Amazingly this underwent only minor tweaking, just a slight crop and the tiniest increase of the blues to balance the colours. Which were there to start with though, and very visible, honest! Pity I don’t have a better view to compliment it, but hey, so what, all three primary colours together in one sunrise should make for a brilliant day whatever the view 🙂

And The Light Goes On   2 comments

It is that time of year again …. I am no friend of the long nights drawing in but this is the one thing I look forward to every year. I get to see the big light in the sky getting switched on, as the golden globe rises slowly above the town, and that without having to get up in the middle of the night. I am no landscape photographer and it shows, and I haven’t been able to persuade my immediate neighbours to knock down their houses so I can have a better view, but it doesn’t matter. It is an unmissable spectacle every single time and I am going to share it with you whether you like it or not 😉
