Greenfinch   –   I am pleased that they are visiting the garden regularly again these days. A decade ago we would see loads of them all the time, but numbers declined for some reason and then, for a few years, there were none. Equally inexplicable last year and this, the greenfinches are back, bullying their feathered neighbourhood just as they used to do and keeping everyone on their toes  🙂

Oi !! What are you looking at ! Yes ! It’s my natural colour ! I know it’s different from the beard ! That’s also natural ! I don’t care that I look weird ! Now leave me alone. I have breakfast to get !

With the help of some more knowledgeable friends we eventually managed to identify this new garden visitor as a lesser redpoll. He brought his other half, too, and they weren’t shy at all.
