Fly Agaric
On the shores of the Scottish village of Balintore sits the Mermaid of the North on a rock, surrounded by the sea at high tide.

There is me thinking that good old traditional scare crows had no place in the modern world and were pretty much extinct, – then I come across these two guys. Okay, they perhaps have a modern twist, what with the plastic clothing instead of rags, but hey, they have adapted 😉
A little ice overhang that had developed on the boot of our car after sliding down the back hatch is melting in the sun. I only got a couple of photos before it fell off, so this is all you get, messed up depth of field and all 😉

I was going to publish a drawing commission over on http://www.shadedfaces.wordpress.com today, one that I completed just recently, but I changed my mind when the morning twilight and the dark skies of storm Gertrude presented us with a special treat. They were seen at numerous locations in the north of Scotland today and I later found out that this is a nacreous, or mother-of-pearl cloud, formed high up in the stratosphere which normally has no clouds because it is too cold.
Star Anise  –  Not much time today so just a quick one. Twelve days to go, time to get a move on with the Christmas decorations and the baking 😉
Star Anise – ‘Christmas Star’
Toadstool  –  I have no idea what this is, I found this along with the forgetmenot during my walk at Millbuie. It is a sign that autumn is definitely here, and of winter to come. I wonder if it is edible? Not sure I would want to find out by trying, though…
Undeniably Fall
Something subtle for this momentous day. Just over half of the population woke up to find they got what they wanted, just under half did not. Let us now all come together and make the future work. And current and future governments take note: Never underestimate the power which HOPE can create within a nation!
